Measuring Success

We are close to being half way through the month, so I thought I would do an accountability check-in to see how your goals are going so far?

Whether you are right on track with your goals or have ran into some challenges, taking some time to reflect on your successes can be very valuable to support you with keeping that motivation up. Consider taking some time this week to journal some successes and accomplishments you have made, and continue to add or reflect on these each week. If your goals have not gone like you hoped they would, I encourage you to NOT beat yourself up! Rather, consider reflecting on what you have learned over these past few weeks that you can do differently, and/or journal your strengths and how you can apply them moving forward.

For many people success is measured by the number on the scale, however there are several other ways to measure progress that are just as valuable. Plus, weight can fluctuate due to: water retention; time of the day; muscle mass; it being "that time of the month"; etc. If you are one that is not seeing the weight come off like you had hoped for, consider giving yourself some grace and looking at these other measurements:

  • How your clothes fit

  • Measuring in inches

  • Lab values

  • Energy levels

  • Stamina

  • Mobility

  • Flexibility

  • Strength

  • Feeling overall happier

  • Healthy skin

  • Sleeping better

  • Mental clarity

  • Improved digestion

  • Increased confidence

  • Less joint pain

  • Healthy hair

  • Behavior changes you made (It can be as small as having a piece of fruit for 1 snack this week versus chocolate)

As you can see there are various ways to measure progress with your health. If you are not seeing any of these just yet that is OKAY! Remember you are just two weeks in and slow and steady wins the race. The last thing we want is to lose all the weight to just gain it all back! I encourage you to focus on your behavior changes you have made or want to make, because these actions are what is going to help you reach your long term goals. Remember, small steps can lead to BIG results!

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you find these tips valuable, and have a happy and healthy Wednesday!
